On June 29, 2023, Big Hit announced Jung Kook’s first official solo single, “Seven”. Seven was released on July 13 and features Latto, an American rapper. Seven is described as a Pop track in the UK Garage genre.
“Seven” debuted atop the daily Global Spotify Chart with almost 16 million streams, recording the most opening-day streams for a male artist and collaboration in history and the biggest debut in 2023.
Jungkook became the first K-pop act to reach number one the U.S. Spotify chart and the first Korean solo artist to debut atop the global chart.
The song debuted in the United States at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Global 200, becoming both Jungkook and Latto’s first number-one on those charts. Seven remained in the top 10 of the Hot 100 in it’s second week post-release.
“Seven” also debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart, setting a new record as the highest debuting single by a solo Korean act. It also charted in the top ten in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, New Zealand, South Korea, and Switzerland.
